Highly Professional Study of The
Homeless Grad Center and its Benefits
Internationally recognized social scientist, Steven
Winkstovich surveyed more than 1300 people who
completed The Homeless Grad Center during a three-month
period.
Prior to their Homeless Grad Center exposure,
people were asked what they expected to achieve
in the course - amazingly, 76.3% of those asked
didn't even understand that they could possibly
"expect to achieve" anything! After
their experience at the Homeless Grad Center,
they were asked about the benefits they actually
received, and the results are quite eye-opening.
Summary - Four areas were explored:
1) the value of The Homeless Grad Center
(valued at "high" to "very high")
2) the profile of participants (average
age 24; average yearly income $150)
3) success rate levels after The Homeless Grad
Center (grads live an average 10 years
longer than they had expected to; yearly incomes
as high as $5,000)
4) unexpected results and, yes, even benefits,
that were experienced (long-lasting, enduring
friendships with college students; unexpected
dancing skill; newfound lust for preaching the
"word of God")
A few of the findings include:
• More than 96% of participants report practical
and enduring value for their life on the street
– "finally, I understand that I really
can't get much lower. That realization is empowering.
Homeless Grad Center was well worth the time and
cost" - Andy
• More than 90% of participants report a better
understanding of relationships and their role
in them - "I used to always end up
getting into fights with other people over sleeping
on the bench. I figured that I had nothing, I
should at least get to use the entire bench. But
now I understand the value of sharing. Even though
my belly still aches, I now give up my bench to
young marketing executives. And the most remarkable
results have come of these interactions. I understand
them better - and I also understand myself better,
too!" - Sharron Blinkinton
• Nearly 99% of the participants received unexpected
benefits – ranging from the ability to spot dropped
change, to transforming negatives into positives
- "A few winters back I lost all ten of
my fingers to the frostbite. I almost let this
dissuade me from my personal goals - most people
would just give up at this point. But a stranger
on the street gave me the business card for Homeless
Grad Center, so I went. After that fortuitous
event, I am now the most profitable guy I know.
Even the most hardened subway riders cough up
change when I stick my stub in their faces."
- Cornelius The X
Conclusion "Several of the study's findings
surprised me quite a bit, especially the large
number of participants for whom The Homeless Grad
Center proved to be 'one of the most valued experiences
of my life.' This is not a sentiment that people,
particularly lost and 'cast aside' express lightly.
I can understand why people recommend The Homeless
Grad Center to their friends, comrades and even
strangers." Steven Winkstovich, Chairman BUB,
